For the analytical writing section- ets has a pdf of ALL the possible writing topics for both tasks. I actually read through these once and I really recomend it to prepare.  It's pretty far down on the list of things to do in applying to grad school, drafting a sop and revising the writing sample is much more important, but it won't take more than ( Read more... )

I am applying to a couple of highly selective Ph.D. programs in history (European/ medieval). This is my second time around; last year, one of these schools rejected my application, but a prof whom I contacted told me that I had great LORs and that the rest of the application file was fine, too, but what really hurt my application were the low GRE ( Read more... )

So I've lurked here for almost a year now, but having gotten my GRE score report I've gotten up the nerve to join. Now I have a raft of questions, re: AWA score, recommendations, languages, suggestions for further action. I'm applying, next year, to PhD programs in 18th century European intellectual/cultural history.
